The
LHC Olympics --- Black Box "the UW1"
This black box was created at the
University of Washington.
The data file contains the signal from 25 inverse femtobarns of
integrated luminosity, about three years of initial LHC running.
- The
inclusive signatures
for the data are not yet available but will soon be posted. General information on
inclusive signatures is HERE.
- The
raw data files can be accessed HERE;
you will be asked for your email address, simply to ensure that we can
inform you by email if there are amy important announcements or changes
to the data sets.
- The
data are broken up into 4 files, named uw1_bb.dat.#.gz where # runs
from 0 to 3. These can be concatenated by the user into a single
file. General
information on how to read
and use the data files is HERE.
- The
samples were created using a standard event generator, Pythia 6.324 for
showering/hadronization, and PGS as a detector simulation. See the general
blackbox page for additional information.
This is a relatively easy model to get started on, somewhat
easier
than the "classic"
blackbox
from this summer. It should be a good starting
point
for beginning participants.
If you find any problems with the black box --- inconsistencies or
strange behavior that does not seem to make physical sense --- feel
free to contact Matt
Strassler.
