Seattle MWA Meeting

Welcome to the homepage for the MWA Seattle meeting. The main collaboration meeting will be held at the University of Washington Physics and Astronomy Building from Tuesday June 16 through Friday June 19. There will also be an NSF project review on the Monday and Tuesday of that week.  As details on the schedule are finalized they will be posted here, in the meantime please sign up for the hotel room.

Registration

Please go to the Registration Page so we can know who is attending and on which days.

Hotels

We have rooms reserved at two hotels in the University district. Both are run by the same people and are a short walk to the Physics and Astronomy Building as well as the food and coffee shops of the University district. We will try to arrange the meeting schedule so people can leave mid-afternoon on Friday if needed.

The Watertown is a little nicer (director quality) and costs $189 per night. (Reservations 206-826-4242)

The University Inn is next door, and is slightly cheaper at $160 per night. (Reservations 206-632-5055)

Please reserve by May 1st to ensure availability of a room, and mention the MWA Research Meeting so they can use the reserved accommodations.

Air Travel

You will want to fly into the Seattle-Tacoma airport, code SEA.

Cars & Taxis

The SeattleTacoma airport is on the south side of the city, and the University district is a little north of downtown. A taxi will cost about $50 and is a good route. The hotels and university district is well served by buses—downtown is 10 minutes away by bus with departures every 5–10 minutes. If you would like to explore the city or the excellent hiking in the area, a rental car can be useful and there is parking at the hotels.

Local info

There are tons of interesting things to do in Seattle, and there is easy bus connections to downtown (10-15 min.) and a bike/walking path that leads past Gasworks park all the way out to the Puget Sound.

Here is a Google map of interesting sites, and the locations of the hotels and meeting site.

The MWA collaboration meeting will be Tuesday through Thursday in room A109 at the Physics and Astronomy building, just south of the "peanut" sculpture.

The NSF meeting will be in room C520 on Monday, in the main tower of the Physics and Astronomy building. The EoR group will cluster across the hall on Monday in room C521 (at least to start), and the NSF reveiw will move into C521 on Tuesday.

A full agenda will be posted soon. We are planning a banquet at Ivar's Salmon House on Thursday night at 6 pm, which is an easy walk. The food is excellent, and we will sit a individual tables of 6-7 people to promote conversation and allow people to order whatever they would like.

The MWA even has a jingle now... check it out!
