Running
Posture and leg position in sprinting. High leg and arm action were used.
Long distance Runner with upright position. The foot is landing farther
ahead than in modern running.
Long Jump
Use of halteres to increase the distance and grace of the longjump.
The halteres were 4.5 kg masses that were held in the hands of the
jumpers. They were held forwards upon take-off then held backwards upon
landing. This had the effect of thrusting the legs ahead of the center
of mass at the landing hence producing a longer measured jump [but no
effect of the cm motion.]
