DECLARING A MAJOR IN PHYSICS If you plan to major in physics, you should declare your major at the earliest possible time. Even if you are not completely certain that you will major in physics in the end it still may be to your benefit to declare a major in physics. That way you have the benefit of discussing your plans and program with advisers thoroughly familiar with what is needed to prepare for a career in the physical sciences or engineering. To declare a major in physics, if you did not do so when you applied for admission to the University of Washington, obtain a change of major form from the Physics Undergraduate Adviser, Margot Nims (margot@phys.washington.edu / 206-543-2772 / C139A, PAT). She will tell you what else needs to be done.
