Windows
2000/XP/Vista:
- Download and install the
appropriate driver for the printer
by clicking on "Drivers" above.
- Click Start and select Control Panel
- Click Printers and Other Hardware if you are in "Category
View"
- Or, if you're in "Classic View", double-click the
Printers and Faxes icon
- Click Add a Printer
- Select "A Network Printer or a Printer Attached to Another
Computer" radio button
- Click Next button
- Select "Connect to this printer (or browse...):"
- Fill in the text window with
\\intprint.phys.washington.edu\ followed by the full
name of the printer
- example: \\intprint.phys.washington.edu\color
- Click Next button and it will warn you that you need to
choose the correct driver.
- Select the driver associated with the printer.
- example: for color.int.washington.edu:
- Manufacturer would be Xerox
- Printer would be Xerox 6360DT
- caveat: sometimes you'll have to load the driver from
where the driver installed itself on the system. See driver specific
instructions above for this information.
- The next dialog asks you if you wish it to be your default
printer, this is up to you.
- Printing a Test Page is nice to know if you've created it
correctly.
- Select "Finished" to complete the installation.
- YOU'RE NOT DONE!!!
- In order to print duplex or use additional trays, you must
enable this in the driver.
- Head back to the Printers and Other Hardware (or Printers
and Faxes icon) in the Control Panel
- Right mouse click on the printer you've created
- Select "Properties"
- Depending on the driver, you enable duplex printing in
different places. Check under the different tabs. In most cases,
enabling the duplex printer is found under the "Options" tab.
- Look for Duplexing or Duplex Option and enable it.
- Now you can print duplex!

Mac OSX (10.4):
- Download and install the
appropriate driver for the printer
by click on "Drivers" above.
- Open System Preferences
- Click on "Print and Fax"
- Click the + icon
under your list of printers
- Click "IP Printer" and use the following settings:
- Protocol: Internet Printing Protocol
- Address: intprint.phys.washington.edu
- Queue: printers/dellprint
- Change "Print Using:" to the appropriate manufacturer
- example: for the Xerox 6360DT, select Xerox 6360DT.
- Select the correct printer
- example: Select "Xerox Phaser 6360DT"
- Click the "Add" button.
- Click "Configure" at the next prompt and use these
parameters
- Trays: Tray 1
- Envelope Feeder: Not Installed
- Duplex: Installed
- Output Bin: Standard Bin
- Disk: Not Installed
- Printer Memory: 1024MB
- Select "Continue" and you're done!

- To see a list of printers, type lpstat -a
- color should be a choice
- To print to color, type lpr -P color <name of
file>
