Given that ADT will stop calling
people on this list once they have reached a live person, Physics must
define its own protocol for dealing with such an emergency. ADT
assumes no responsibility for responding to the event once we are
informed.
- Don't panic.
- Grab some paper and a writing utensil.
- Make note of the time ADT was alerted to the system.
- If you can access a computer with a network connection,
head to the PACS website and look for the temperature monitoring system
under the ``Info'' section.
- <>If you cannot access a computer and/or you are too
far
away from the department to start to drive in, contact people in the
following order: Richard Coffey, David Boulware, William Somsky, Alan
Jedlow, Jennifer Raines, and Jason Alferness.
- <>If the temperature seems to be rising very rapidly
or
is over 78 degrees, start a full system shutdown. If you are unsure,
consider calling one of the people listed above.
<>- Contact FOMS (Facility Operation Maintenance
Specialists - 685-1411) on campus and alert them to a possible overheat
in the Physics server room. Stess that response is time critical.
You'll need to give them the following information: Building name, room
where there's a problem, your contact information, and a description of
the problem. Inform FOMS that documentation on the Chilled Water
System can be found on the chilled water monitoring station in the
northwest corner of the PAB B005 Mechanical Room in a Red Binder.
- If you are the closest person to the building, start
driving.
- Once you have arrived at the building and assessed the
situation, please contact Richard Coffey or David Boulware and apprise
them of the situation.
Keep in mind that you are the point person for this emergency. Be sure
to follow up with the onsite engineers who come from FOMS. Contact ADT
if you need to put the alarm system into ``test'' mode. Putting the
system into test mode tells ADT not to worry about the alarm tripping
in the near future while the server room is adjusted.
