Research activities in the UW Particle, Field, and String Theory group include elementary particle phenomenology, applications of quantum field theory, string theory, and cosmology. Current interests include gravitational descriptions of quantum field theories, particularly QCD-like theories, and related aspects of gauge/string duality, signatures of new physics potentially visible in hadronic colliders, novel extensions of the standard model and possible signatures of new physics, dark matter, dark energy, and mass-varying neutrino models, improved techniques for extraction of hadronic physics from lattice gauge theory, properties of high temperature gauge theories, large N limits and other aspects of non-perturbative field theory.
The Particle/Field/String Theory Group at the University of Washington invites applications for postdoctoral research associate positions starting in autumn 2013. Faculty members in the group are Steve Ellis, Andreas Karch, Ann Nelson, Steve Sharpe, and Laurence Yaffe. We have strong ties to experimental groups interested in hadron collider physics and particle astrophysics, as well as to the nuclear theory group and Institute for Nuclear Theory at the University of Washington. Applicants will be considered in all areas of particle physics, phenomenology, lattice field theory, quantum field theory, string theory, and particle cosmology. Applications should consist of a CV, list of publications, summary of research interests, and three letters of recommendation, submitted to AcademicJobsOnline. The University of Washington is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. We will begin reviewing applications on Nov 1, 2012. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.
