I'm renovating the website. Send me an email (msteuck@) if there's something you'd like to see, or better yet, something you'd like to contribute. If you can't find something on this website, you might be able to find it on the old site.

Information about graduate student computing lives here. Our primary resource is a cluster of desktop computers that are linked together by Condor, which allows students to run programs on idle desktops on the cluster.

As other computing resources become available to the graduate students, we can use this site to publish information about those resources.

The cluster is undergoing a total renovation as we have acquired 64 new desktop comptuers from an STF grant spearheaded by Joe Wasem.

With help from PACS, Mat Steuck and myself are adding three more computers to our cluster: pt05, pt09, and pt10. After those go online we will have a total of 70 nodes.

Thanks to PACS our system is almost completely back to normal. As anticipated, we now have Condor version 6.8. Check the status regularly to see how recovery proceeds.

At present the system is down. This unfortunate situation is in part due to a drive failure experienced by gradsrv on the evening of Sept. 5th. Although much of the information was recovered by PACS from tape backups, some of it was lost, as the last backup took place on Sept. 3rd. The Condor installation was also lost.

Full recovery is expected in about one or two weeks, when the latest version of Condor is installed on the new server.
