The Department of Physics at the University of Washington offers a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics. This four-year program is structured in such a way as to provide a solid foundation in introductory university level physics, mathematical physics, and laboratory experiences during the first two years, followed by formal courses on electricity and magnetism and quantum mechanics in the junior year. After these courses, a rather open structure is available to suit students interests as they complete the requirements. Electives on most areas of current research interest, mathematical physics, and a large array of laboratories are available for those interested in graduate studies in physics or a closely related field, or in moving on to other areas of graduate study and/or to join the workforce.
